01

Food is a basic human need.

We all need food and nutrients! Learning what nutrients different foods provide is vital to building a well-balanced diet.

02

Food provides energy, nutrients and other substances needed for human growth and development.

Our body requires not only calories but many additional substances to provide optimal functioning of our cells.

03

Variety, balance, and adequacy are important parts of healthy dietary patterns.

Eating a wide variety of foods in appropriate proportions ensures that we get all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals that we need.

04

There are no "good" or "bad" foods.

We need to stop making food the villains! Food is food- it is not good or bad and your worth as person is not based on the food that you consume.

05

Nutrition intake affects our mental health, mood, and behavior.

Research continues to show the connection between nutritional status, and the influence on our gut and our brain.

06

Poor nutrition results from both too little and excessive nutrient intake.

Eating too much of one nutrient can create problems just as much as eating too little of important nutrients can!

Weight is a SINGLE indicator of health status and is not the only indicator of health.

07

Weight is not the only indicator of health.
